The CopperString 2032 project is one of the largest energy infrastructure developments currently underway in regional Queensland.
Led by Powerlink Queensland, this new, massive project will connect Mount Isa and the North West Minerals Province to the National Electricity Market through Townsville. And once complete, CopperString will deliver high-voltage transmission infrastructure across approximately 840km of regional Queensland, while connecting Mount Isa, Cloncurry, Julia Creek, and other surrounding areas to the east coast grid.
CopperString will also do a significant amount to support mining expansion, renewables development, and industrial growth in the state’s northwest region.
The overall route of the CopperString project traverses remote terrain, long highway stretches, and harsh outback conditions – which means that vehicle reliability and suitability for tough outdoor terrain is an absolute must for anyone working on this project.
Contractors operating on CopperString face significant logistical and environmental challenges like long distances between towns, extreme heat and dust, strict safety and compliance standards, rotational workforces (requiring reliable people movers), and the need to transport heavy equipment and materials.
Remote infrastructure delivery demands dependable fleet support to avoid costly downtime, and that’s why FleetCrew is able to provide the right civil spec hire vehicles and specially fit them for the exact requirements of the CopperString project.
Because our team knows the realities of operating across regional Queensland and the importance of maintaining uptime on large infrastructure projects, FleetCrew already supports companies working along the CopperString route. Our branches, uniquely positioned with branches in key locations of Townsville, Cloncurry, and Mount Isa, mean that we can:
And for larger fleet deployments, FleetCrew can negotiate delivery of vehicles to towns along the CopperString corridor.
